Mini Buggy FAQ

1-What is the best way for someone just starting out to get involved in mini buggies ? 

Become a member of some of the mini buggy forums and read all you can find on the subject. Ask lots of questions. Attend a few mini buggy race meets and talk to the club members. Purchase a set of plans and study what is required to build a buggy yourself or look at purchasing a second hand one. 

2- How Can I build my own buggy ?

Best way to start, is to purchase a set of mini buggy plans to see what is involved. Then assess what skills and equipment you have or need to build the project. Most plans are pretty straight forward and easy to follow, just be aware of how much time and money it may take to complete the buggy.

3- Should I build my own buggy or buy one ?

It depends on a few things : Like your financial situation, your level of skill, the amount of free time you have. Buying a completed buggy is the easiest option, but also involves a big investment. If you build your'e own buggy it can save a heap and you also gain the satisfaction of doing the job yourself.  

4- What basic skills & equipment do I need to have to build my own buggy ?

You will need basic metal working skills, like drilling, cutting and welding. Equipment you will need or have access to are power tools, bench drill, arc or mig welder, tube bender etc. 

5- What's the best way to get involved in mini buggy racing ? 

Join a mini buggy club and attend a few race meetings, get to know the members, help out in the pits.  

6-  What saftey items are recommended on a mini buggy ?

Always wear a good quality helment, gloves & goggles. Always have proper racing seat belts fitted & use them. Always use arm restraints or have side saftey nets fitted.

7-  Where can I drive my buggy legally ?

There are very few places you are allowed to legally drive a buggy now days other than private land. Best option is to join a club and race your buggy.

8- If I want to race my buggy, what extra saftey items do I need ?

Each club requirements may vary slightly, but basically you will need the following : - Approved helment, goggles and gloves. Approved saftey harness. Arm restraints or window nest. External battery shut off switch. Fuel shut off switch. High mounted brake light. F&R & side nerf bars.
